Spider-Man Movie Premiere Gets XL Video Support
LONDON — Leicester Square was chosen as the venue for the world premiere of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 – the latest installment of the Marvel Comics franchise from Columbia Pictures. XL Video provided MC-7 LED panels for the star-studded event.
James Blunt Tours with Big Curved Screen from XL Video
SAN FRANCISCO — XL Video is supplying a 9 by 9.5 meter (WxH) curved Pixled F-15 LED screen for James Blunt’s Moon Landing world tour along with cameras and PPU, projection and crew. The gear was specified by production designer Paul Normandale, who has been working with LD Glen Johnson and XL Video to support the artist’s visuals since 2005. This fourth world tour is by far the largest to date in terms of production.
XL Video Supports The Stranglers’ “Big Ruby” Tour
LONDON — XL Video is assisting maverick rockers The Stranglers celebrate 40 years in the music industry with the band’s “Big Ruby” tour of the U.K. and Europe. The video design includes four “picture frames” upstage, representing both the four original members of the band and the four decades the band has been performing.
XL Video Names Rene De Keyzer U.S. CEO
NEW YORK – Rene De Keyzer, XL Video’s founder, was named CEO for the company’s U.S. operations, based in Atlanta, GA. The announcement was made at a New York event on April 14. 2014 Redken European Symposium Gets XL Video Assist
LONDON – XL Video supplied media server mapping and control plus side screens to producers Zibrant LIVE! for the Redken European Symposium event at London Olympia. The fast-moving show was choreographed with pixel-mapped imagery evoking buses, subway cars, taxis and London landmarks. Along with spatial pixel-mapping precision, the cues needed to be executed at the appropriate time as performers would make their movements on the stage.
Taiwanese Alt Rockers Mayday Perform at Wembley Arena with XL Video Support
LONDON — For a concert Feb. 21 at Wembley Arena for Taiwanese alt rockers Mayday, Live Nation turned to XL Video for video production that included a 24 by 5.4 meter high main screen comprised Pixled FX-12 along with 240 tiles of Pixled FX-11 for three additional screens flown on a mid truss, all measuring 8 tiles wide and 10 high. For I-Mag relay, two 16-by-9-foot side screens were rigged left and right of the stage, each fed by a pair of Barco FLM 22K projectors.
Ellie Goulding UK Arena Tour Gets XL Video Support
LONDON – For a recent tour of U.K. arenas, LDs Cate Carter and Pablo Beckett of Bryte Design expanded their video-centered set design to include some of XL Video’s newer LED products – the Radiant MC-18 Hybrid, Radiant MC-7T, Radiant MC-18T and Pixled F-12 screens. XL Video also supplied cameras, a Catalyst media server for playback and PPU and crew for the tour, which brought Goulding’s ongoing Halcyon Days trek from the earlier theatre-sized production to a larger version for arena-sized venues.

Autosport Live Action Arena Features 90m-Wide XL Video Projection
BIRMINGHAM, U.K. — For the Live Action Arena portion of the 2014 Autosport International exhibition at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre, XL Video returned with the 90-meter-wide projection that debuted with the January 2013 event. The moving backgrounds were made up from a six-way blend of six stacks of two Barco projectors — six Barco HDF-W26s with six Barco FLM HD20s as hot backups.
