This year’s South by Southwest Music Festival (SXSW) in Austin, TX provided a unique classical music showcase into its multi-cultural annual event. The brainchild of Thea Paraskevaides from Brighton-based ‘Artists&’, the underlying concept was to close the gap between classical musicians and audience via integration and collaboration—aimed at creating a fluid and dynamic experience for the audience. “I want to move classical music more into the mainstream,” she declared. Bandit Brings the Lights to the Black Music Honors

Bandit Lites is proud to have illuminated the 8th Annual Black Music Honors, a star-studded showcase that celebrates Black excellence and trailblazers in music, ranging from gospel to R&B, Hip-Hop and more. This year’s honorees included music legend Missy Elliott, vocal trio SWV, disco and R&B star Evelyn “Champagne” King, R&B/soul singer Jeffrey Osborne, and gospel trailblazers The Hawkins Family. GLP Flies High with Florence and the Machine Supporting LD Andi Watson

Florence and the Machine’s grand world tour, which began late last summer in North America and subsequently spanned shows as far afield as Melbourne and London, will again prove that distance is no barrier as the festival season looms, with imminent outdoor events in Brazil and Europe. Masterminded by a largely new creative team, the lighting is based on an original concept from the highly imaginative Andi Watson, complementing Es Devlin’s set design.
