Historical Morton Salt complex transformed into Chicago’s hottest new live performance space
The Morton Salt complex in Chicago had been in operation for nearly a century before it was closed down in 2015. Today, the complex has been transformed into a multi-purpose venue for live music and other events named The Salt Shed. 4Wall Entertainment recently provided a lighting rental package to KCD Worldwide for a unique hybrid event at Manhattan’s Park Avenue Armory, celebrating the H&M and Mugler collaboration. The event combined various elements, including sound, style, live performance, club culture, and dance. Florence and the Machine’s grand world tour, which began late last summer in North America and subsequently spanned shows as far afield as Melbourne and London, will again prove that distance is no barrier as the festival season looms, with imminent outdoor events in Brazil and Europe. Techno-based Rotterdam Rave runs 9-10 underground rave events a year which draw in excess of 50,000 visitors. Originally located in old industrial buildings, the sold-out events have grown rapidly in size, and the organisation recently adopted the 8,000-capacity RTM Stage at Rotterdam Ahoy as the newest addition to the Rotterdam Rave territory. An ADJ heavy lighting rig incorporating Focus Profile moving head and Jolt Panel FX static LED luminaires, amongst other fixtures, was used to illuminate a recent sold-out concert by Easton Corbin at Yucaipa Performing Arts Center in California.
