The Stage Managers’ Association Announces 2022 Del Hughes Awards for Lifetime Achievement in the Art of Stage Management

The Stage Managers’ Association (SMA) has announced its annual Del Hughes Awards for Lifetime Achievement in the Art of Stage Management. The distinguished 2022 honorees are corporate, event, and theatrical stage manager Andrew Feigin, opera stage manager Raymond Menard, and theatrical stage manager Bernita Robinson. In addition to these Lifetime Achievement Awards, the SMA will honor Marguerite Price with The Founders Award and Narda E. @sohoplace Theater to Open in London This Fall

A new, state of the art, and flexible 602-seat in-the-round theater will be opening this fall in London, UK. Leading West End producer and theater owner, Nica Burns, announced the opening of @sohoplace, the culmination of a 12-year project. Broadway Theatres In New York City Extend Vaccination and Mask Requirement for Everyone in the Theatre

New York—October 1, 2021—The Broadway League announced today that the owners and operators of all 41 Broadway theatres in New York City will continue to require vaccinations for audience members, as well as performers, backstage crew, and theatre staff, for all performances through the end of the year. New York State Launches $100 Million New York City Musical and Theatrical Production Tax Credit

Post-Pandemic Program Will Encourage Reopening of Broadway Productions as Part of State’s Comprehensive Economic Recovery Initiative  

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has announced the launch of the new $100 million New York City Musical and Theatrical Production Tax Credit, designed to help revitalize an industry vital to the state’s continued economic recovery. This program will further jump-start the entertainment industry and help to generate additional tourism activity in New York City. Prior to the pandemic, Broadway theatres welcomed a collective audience of nearly 250,000 people each week, while the industry supported more than 90,000 local jobs and contributed over $14 billion to the New York City economy annually. Since the program was first announced as part of the FY 2022 Budget, at least 35 productions have announced opening performance plans for this year.
