Educator and production professional Shawn McKeown passed away May 28, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was 50. At the time of his death, he was employed by Full Sail University as Program Manager – Show Production. McKeown worked for Full Sail for more than 20 years holding a variety of teaching positions, including Department Chair, and Course Director.

PLSN was saddened to learn of the death of John Iacovelli, Production and Scenic Designer at the age of 64. Iacovelli was an Emmy-winning scenic designer whose work was seen on both stage and screen. He was also a mentor and educator. He died this past Friday, April 14, after a long battle with cancer.
Designer James L. Moody died this year at the age of 80. A pioneering lighting designer for concerts, television, and theater as well as a professor, lecturer, author, and mentor, Moody had an amazing and varied career that influenced many throughout the live entertainment industry.
This month Chris Lose muses on the recent loss of Nook Schoenfeld, who he considered a mentor. Lose took over the LD-at-Large column from Schoenfeld and now uses it to “share some nuggets of wisdom that shaped my career and pay homage to a great man.”
