There is a powerfully moving beauty that arises when the human creative spirit transcends barriers of time and culture. Such was the case not long ago, when Rebecca and Megan Lovell, the Georgia-born sisters, better known as the widely acclaimed roots rock duo Larkin Poe, and their mother were reading A Tale For The Time Being, Ruth Ozeki’s novel about a Tsunami and its effect on the life of a Japanese family.Read More »CHAUVET Professional and 4Wall Help Tony Caporale Reflect Mood of Larkin Poe ‘Blood Harmony’ Tour

CHAUVET Professional Helps Alec Takahashi Connect Thomas Rhett To Crowd

Location, they say, “is everything” in retailing; well, it’s pretty important in live touring too. Just ask Alec Takahashi, the long-time lighting designer for country superstar Thomas Rhett. Lighting the multi-platinum singer/songwriter’s Bring The Bar To You tour, the LD could sense the crowd enter different emotional spaces as his client moved from one location on the set to another. “We had a B stage that Thomas Rhett walked on for a few songs,” said Takahashi. “This allowed us to create stripped down moments for him to get closer to fans. When he did this, the crowd subconsciously relaxed and became a little loose. You could literally feel the crowd relax and engage when he moved to that stage, and then you could feel the energy skyrocket with no walls when he returned to a full band performance on the main stage.”Read More »CHAUVET Professional Helps Alec Takahashi Connect Thomas Rhett To Crowd

“When I make my music, I want people to feel good, I can really feel that when they sing the lyrics back to me,” house heavyweight Sonny Fodera told an interviewer from Forbes earlier this year. The Australian-born star must have had no doubt that his music was having the desired elixir effect on his audience recently, when he performed two sold-out shows at O2 Academy Brixton. Throughout both shows, the walls of the iconic concert venue reverberated with fans responding to the highly emotive songs from his recently released fifth album “Wide Awake,” and other recordings.Read More »BIGABOX Calls on CHAUVET Professional to Support Sonny Fodera at O2 Academy Brixton

Mike Grabowski was thrilled with his experience designing the multiple stages under his purview for Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest in Times Square this year, except for one thing. His single regret didn’t involve the rain that fell for much of the evening, either. After all, the “unpredictability of nature,” comes with the territory when lighting outdoor events, said The Lighting Design Group’s senior designer. Plus, given that most of his rig was IP65 rated, he had little to worry about regarding the showers. (He and the team have seen a lot of challenging weather, being at Times Square on NYE, for over a decade of these shows.)Read More »CHAUVET Professional Creates NYE Magic for Mike Grabowski and The Lighting Design Group

The Design Oasis Sails Smoothly at Jamrock Reggae Cruise with CHAUVET Professional IP65 Fixtures

As Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas steamed out of port December 7 for the Welcome To Jamrock Reggae Cruise, Nesta Garrick, Abbas Ritscher, and the entire team at The Design Oasis were grateful that they would be able to do something, they’d never done before: leave all their fixtures unbagged overnight. “This was the first time we didn’t have to worry about putting bags over our fixtures at the end of a long day,” said Ritscher, who oversaw the installation of the lighting rig on the ship. “That’s a tremendous time saver.”Read More »The Design Oasis Sails Smoothly at Jamrock Reggae Cruise with CHAUVET Professional IP65 Fixtures

Creative BackStage and CHAUVET Professional Brighten Up Zona Music Festival

Rain can play havoc with any outdoor festival. That much is true, but in Phoenix AZ? The second driest city in the USA (only Las Vegas gets less precipitation), Phoenix has gone as long as 160 days without rain; that happened back in 1972. The organizers of the inaugural Zona Music festival had no such luck. On December 3, the day the festival opened, Mother Nature dropped .76 inches of rain down on the city, breaking a record that had stood for 115 years.Read More »Creative BackStage and CHAUVET Professional Brighten Up Zona Music Festival
