The Stage Managers’ Association 2022 Del Hughes Awards for Lifetime Achievement Set for Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m. ET

On Monday October 24th, 2022, the Stage Managers’ Association (SMA) will present its annual Del Hughes Awards for Lifetime Achievement in the Art of Stage Management, at the National Opera Center’s Marc A. Scorca Hall in NYC. The distinguished 2022 honorees are corporate, event, and theatrical stage manager Andrew Feigin, opera stage manager Raymond Menard, and theatrical stage manager Bernita Robinson. In addition to these Lifetime Achievement Awards, the SMA will honor Marguerite Price with The Founders Award, and Narda E. Alcorn and Lisa Porter with a Special Recognition Award.

The Actors Fund, the 140-year-old national human services organization for everyone in performing arts and entertainment, announced at its Annual Gala on May 9, 2022 that, effective immediately, they have changed their name to Entertainment Community Fund, in order to better reflect the broad scope of industry professionals they help.
The 125th anniversary of Thornton Wilder’s birth (April 17, 1897) will be observed throughout 2022 with nearly 150 productions of his plays worldwide—including Our Town, a new production of The Skin of Our Teeth at Lincoln Center Theatre, and a first-ever staging of his unfinished play The Emporium completed by Kirk Lynn (Rude Mechanicals) at the Alley Theater in Houston. Almost 50 years after his death in 1975, Wilder remains one of the most widely produced playwrights in the world.
Actors’ Equity Association, the national labor union representing more than 51,000 professional stage managers and actors in live theater, has released the union’s third diversity and inclusion hiring bias report, tracking the demographics of how its members are hired for acting and stage management work, and how much they were paid in the year 2020.
As the live arts industry begins to restart, and work increases as the pandemic diminishes, Actors’ Equity Association, the national union representing more than 51,000 professional stage managers and actors in live theatre, has announced a new Open Access membership policy, allowing any theatre worker who can demonstrate they have worked professionally as an actor or stage manager within Equity’s geographical jurisdiction to join the union.
