The Stage Managers’ Association Foundation Adds Two Board Members

The Board of Directors of the Stage Managers’ Association Foundation (SMAF) is pleased to announce that at their January 2024 meeting, J. Jason Daunter of Anaheim, CA, and Judy Martel of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, were elected to the Board. Daunter and Martel will join the 10 current board members of this New York State-based charitable organization. Its mission is to promote the craft and the art of those working in stage management. Elynmarie Kazle Honored with the USITT Joel E. Rubin Founders Award at USITT23

At the USITT 23 Conference in St. Louis, USITT honored Elynmarie Kazle with The Joel E. Rubin Founder’s Award, which is presented to a USITT member in recognition of outstanding and continued service to the Institute. This award was named in honor of Dr. Joel E. Rubin, co-founder and the second president of the Institute. The New Stage Managers’ Association Foundation has been Launched

Last night, Monday October 24, 2022, at The Stage Managers’ Association 2022 Del Hughes Awards for Lifetime Achievement, Elynmarie Kazle (past chair of the SMA) announced the creation of a new organization – the Stage Managers’ Association Foundation. Calling All Stage Managers to Help Celebrate ‘Our Town’ Stage Manager’s Day

The 125th anniversary of Thornton Wilder’s birth (April 17, 1897) will be observed throughout 2022 with nearly 150 productions of his plays worldwide—including Our Town, a new production of The Skin of Our Teeth at Lincoln Center Theatre, and a first-ever staging of his unfinished play The Emporium completed by Kirk Lynn (Rude Mechanicals) at the Alley Theater in Houston. The Stage Manager’s Association of the United States (SMA) Announces New Leadership

The Stage Manager’s Association of the United States (SMA) welcomed 10 new directors to its first board meeting of the 2021-22 SMA term, who had not served on the board in the past. Joining the leadership team are Alfredo ‘Fredo’ Aguilar, an active committee member located in the Central Region, Chicago, and R.
