Ayrton Takes to the Stage at the Royal Shakespeare Company

The Royal Shakespeare Company with its permanent home in Stratford-upon-Avon needs little introduction. Its main house, the 1,018-seat Royal Shakespeare Theatre underwent an enormous rebuild and refurbishment between 2007-2010, and its smaller Swan Theatre (469 capacity) has recently reopened in April 2023 after a year-long post-pandemic refurbishment. Both houses have had Ayrton fixtures installed for the first time, replacing aging lighting stock with Ayrton Diablo and Eurus fixtures specified by the RSC head of lighting, Kevin Sleep.Read More »Ayrton Takes to the Stage at the Royal Shakespeare Company

Birmingham Royal Ballet Gets U.K.’s First ETC EOS Ti Console

Stage Electrics Completes Management Buyout

LONDON – Stage Electrics has announced a management buyout of the business from the estate of David Whitehead.  Under the new ownership structure Trevor Smallwood will continue as chairman of the board and the executive directors of Stage Electrics will remain unchanged. The new shareholders include industry veterans Trevor Smallwood, Dan Aldridge, Bob Smith, James Irvine, Anna Western, Adam Blaxill, Adrian Searle and Ian Tregaskis.

LONDON – Fuerzabruta is an Argentine theatrical extravaganza which provides its visitors an immersive theatrical carnival experience. The fast-paced and interactive production required its audience not only to be nimble but standing as they transitioned from being spectators to becoming part of the show. Technical event specialists Stage Electrics supplied and installed the lighting (and audio) solutions.

Stage Electrics Appoints New Service Manager

LONDON – Stage Electrics has appointed Jon Smith as the company’s new service manager. Smith, who has more than 30 years of engineering and managerial experience, takes over Steve Chappell’s position. Chappell is now in a new role as Commissioning and Design Engineer, responsible for lighting control system design and programming.
