Fans never know what to expect at a live performance by The Plot In You. Sure, everybody understands that they will be treated to some razor-sharp riffs and take-your-breath-away melodic control that push (no, make that shatter) the boundaries of metalcore music, but sooner or later the band will thrill the crowd by turning on a dime and taking their performance in a surprising new direction. As one critic put it during the quartet’s recently completed three-month 42-city tour with Beartooth, “the uncanny element of surprise has entrenched the gold-selling Ohio quartet on the cutting edge of heavy music.”Read More »CHAUVET Professional and Squeek Lights Help Quinn Brabender Keep Pace With The Plot In You

CHAUVET Professional and Squeek Lights Help Joshua Schultz Set Tone for Turnpike Troubadours at Beacon

Lighting Designer Joshua Schultz admits it; at first, he wasn’t overly enthused about lighting a show against a large, deeply rippled curtain background for his client, Turnpike Troubadours when they performed at the historic Beacon Theatre in New York City. That quickly changed, however, when he saw how this billowy background played off against light. “I was skeptical, but I quickly fell in love with having another canvas to incorporate looks onto, said Schultz. “Too many times having just a black backdrop deadens the stage. This curtain added another dimension.”Read More »CHAUVET Professional and Squeek Lights Help Joshua Schultz Set Tone for Turnpike Troubadours at Beacon

Nate Haber Pumps Up Lorna Shore Show With CHAVET Professional Color STRIKE M

Lorna Shore doesn’t hesitate to bend or break rules in order to expand their musical horizons, readily adding techno and symphonic elements to their signature metalcore sound. But when it comes to lighting, the band and their LD, Nate Haber, do have one edict that they’re pretty strict about: limit the use of front light. “The band and I have come up with a few guidelines regarding front light,” said Haber. “In no particular order it goes something like this: the default is that they have no front light.  Also, we try to keep Austin and his drum set as lit as possible. When Adam has a guitar solo he always needs light; and when Will is talking to the crowd, he needs light too. There are a few other parts in songs where I light the band because it feels right. In those cases, typically, if you can see one member of the band you can see them all, but at this point in time, the band and I really like the silhouette look.”Read More »Nate Haber Pumps Up Lorna Shore Show With CHAVET Professional Color STRIKE M

Nate Haber Adds Festive Touch to A Lorna Shore Christmas with CHAUVET Professional

“My client wanted this to have the look and feel of a quintessential Christmas show.” Every lighting designer can relate to that this time of year. But in Nate Haber’s case, the request was made with a bit of a different twist. Instead of being asked to support standard holiday tunes, his design had to reflect the raw, merciless power of death metal music in a Yuletide setting.Read More »Nate Haber Adds Festive Touch to A Lorna Shore Christmas with CHAUVET Professional
