On Monday November 6th, 2023, the Stage Managers’ Association (SMA) will present its annual Del Hughes Awards for Lifetime Achievement in the Art of Stage Management, at the National Opera Center’s Marc A. Scorca Hall in NYC.  The distinguished 2023 honorees are theatrical production stage managers John M. Atherlay and Gwen Gilliam, and opera production stage manager Brett Finley.  In addition to these Lifetime Achievement Awards, the SMA will honor Elynmarie Kazle with The Founders Award. The Del Hughes Award, The Founders Award & Special Recognition Honorees 2023 Top: Del Hughes Honorees John M. The Stage Managers’ Association (SMA) has announced its annual Del Hughes Awards for Lifetime Achievement in the Art of Stage Management. The 125th anniversary of Thornton Wilder’s birth (April 17, 1897) will be observed throughout 2022 with nearly 150 productions of his plays worldwide—including Our Town, a new production of The Skin of Our Teeth at Lincoln Center Theatre, and a first-ever staging of his unfinished play The Emporium completed by Kirk Lynn (Rude Mechanicals) at the Alley Theater in Houston. SMA to Bestow Del Hughes Awards for Lifetime Achievement during Virtual Event Oct. 25

On Monday October 25th, 2021, the Stage Managers’ Association (SMA) will virtually present its annual Del Hughes Awards for Lifetime Achievement in the Art of Stage Management, live from NYC and Las Vegas. The 2021 honorees are distinguished theatrical stage managers Ruth E. Kramer and Lynda A. Lavin, television stage manager Arthur Lewis, and in-memoriam legendary Broadway stage manager Charles Allen Blackwell. The Stage Manager’s Association of the United States (SMA) Announces New Leadership

The Stage Manager’s Association of the United States (SMA) welcomed 10 new directors to its first board meeting of the 2021-22 SMA term, who had not served on the board in the past. Joining the leadership team are Alfredo ‘Fredo’ Aguilar, an active committee member located in the Central Region, Chicago, and R.
