Big Eurovision Set Includes 350 SGM SixPack Blinders

COPENHAGEN — Creative director Per Zachariassen and lighting designer Kasper Lange included 350 of SGM’s SixPack blinders in a 110 by 13 meter (WxH) back wall configuration for the distinctive look of the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest semi-finals and finals staged here May 6, 8 and 10.

Swiss Planetarium’s Dome Lit with SGM P-5 Wash Fixtures

LUCERNE, Switzerland — Auviso provided SGM’s P-5 wash lights as part of a refurbishment for the Swiss Museum of Transport Planetarium here. The gear was sourced through local SGM distributor ASL. The Planetarium dome is now solely lit by P-5 fixtures. Auviso’s project manager, Patrik Peier, credited the gear for being both brighter and more energy efficient than the fixtures they replaced.

They used SGM fixtures for the Spanish Steps, The Train Station Square’s installation named The Spider and the Hotel Saksildhus (pictured here) with  SGM lighting fixtures.

Poolgroup’s SGM P-5s Highlight Obama in Berlin

BERLIN – President Barack Obama recently visited Berlin for the first time since his election. The highlight of his 25-hour stay was his speech before an invited audience of 5,000 people at the Pariser Platz in front of the Brandenburg Gate. The technical planning and equipment necessary to transmit his speech to the world media was undertaken by event production company, Poolgroup on behalf of the German Foreign Office and the Federal Press Office.

SGM Strobes Rave on Mayday

DORTMUND, Germany – Some 23,000 dance fans partied all night long to the sounds of more than 54 internationally renowned DJs at this year’s Mayday extravaganza in Dortmund, including top names such as Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, Carl Cox and Sven Väth. Production company schoko pro installed more than 360 tons of audio visual equipment for the party, designing a 4-fingered truss-claw and a monster mirrorball as the major centerpiece from the ceiling. A special trick was the ability to move and tilt the claw above the audience’s heads, to create changing lighting effects.

SGM Sees Blinding Success at Eurovision

MALMO, Sweden – SGM equipped Malmö Arena’s main stage with 52 X-5 white LED strobes and 82 SixPack LED blinders for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest (ESC 2013). Although SGM fixtures were also used throughout the EuroVillage, it was in the main action of the contest itself that the fixtures worked their magic for LD Fredrik Jönsson.

Beyonce Dazzles with 470 SGM X-5 Strobes

AABYHOEJ, Denmark – The introduction of SGM’s X-5 LED strobes inspired award winning production designer, LeRoy Bennett, to specify 470 pieces for Beyoncé’s The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour. Bennett also had the X-5s in mind for the next tour by metal band Rammstein.
