FORT WORTH — A group of students tasked with a scenic design that celebrated oddball holidays — in their case, Leap Day — was voted 2014 winner of the Rose Brand / USITT Action Design Competition. The contest was staged at the USITT Expo, held here in late March. In a contest first, these same students also won the individual prizes for top scenic, costume, and lighting designers, as well as technical director. “Team Leap Day” members were honored for their design concept, its development and how the themed environment was lit.

Rose Brand’s new Fabric Finder ColorApp, now featured on RoseBrand.com, is designed to give users quick and easy access to the fabric they need from an array of nearly 1,500 choices. The app lets users filter down fabric choices by color, type, width, opacity, sheen, price or flame retardancy, or use any combination of those parameters.
The new Petzl Strix VL headlamp features multiple carrying options and both white and color lighting. It can be worn on your helmet, head, vest, strap or around your neck. The lamp’s double rotation system allows great freedom for orienting the beam: 180 degrees horizontally and 120 degrees vertically.

SECAUCUS, NJ – Tom Sullivan joins Rose Brand as a senior project manager in the New Jersey office. Sullivan’s background includes 16 years at Hudson Scenic Studio, where he was the engineering department manager for scenery production for Broadway productions and other entertainment venues.
