BALINGEN Germany — The Christmas Metal Symphony 2013 European tour, which made its way through Sweden, the Czech Republic and Germany, featured a lighting design by LD Nick van Balen. The rig centered on Robe LED Wash moving lights, including 44 LEDWash 300s and 12 LEDWash 600s.
LAS VEGAS — Fleetwood Mac and Maroon 5 were among the standout acts on hand in Las Vegas to help ring in the New Year. VER provided Robe fixtures for both gigs, at the MGM Grand Casino and Mandalay Bay Resort Events Center, respectively, including Robin Pointes, LEDWash 1200s and LEDWash 600s. Fleetwood Mac performed its regular touring show Dec. 30 and a 70-minute set for a special New Year’s Eve VIP Party that MGM Grand staged for high-rolling guests Dec. 31.
HIGH WYCOMBE, U.K. — Siyan supported a recent tour for the band Texas with its just-purchased Elidy-S LED panels from Chromlech. LD Paddy Farr specified 24 of the panels for the tour. The rig also included Siyan’s custom-fabricated flown pods, each mounted with nine Robe LEDBeam 100s.
LONDON — Mood, drama, invention and Robe moving lights were at the heart of the elegant, intricate lighting design created by Rich George from 3DL&S for jazz-pop singer and songwriter Jamie Cullum’s Momentum tour, which recently completed its first U.K. leg before heading to Europe. Leeds, U.K.-based Zig Zag Lighting is providing the gear.
BUCKINGHAMSHIRE, UK — Siyan, based here, supplied a floor specials package for British singer/songwriter Conor Maynard’s recent U.K. tour, where he opened for Will.i.am. LD Paul Smith from Edge of Blue Design specified Robe Pointe and LEDWash 600 moving lights among other fixtures.
ARMAGH, Northern Ireland — Lighting Designer/Director John Penny Williams worked with Robe gear from HSL (Blackburn UK) and Production Services Ireland (PSI/Belfast) to light “Christmas in Ireland,” a performance by Libera, an all boy choir. The group performed at St Patrick’s Cathedral here.
