More than 10,000 Free ANSI Standards Downloaded

NEW YORK, NY – More than 10,000 standards have been downloaded since April, when PLASA and ProSight Specialty Insurance announced their partnership to make PLASA’s American National Standards available to the industry free of charge as part of an effort to boost industry knowledge and safety. Among the most popular: ANSI E1.2, relating to aluminum truss and towers; ANSI E1.4, on counterweight rigging systems; ANSI E1.1, on wire rope ladders; and ANSI E1.6-1, on powered hoist systems.

Draft Standards for Arena Rigging in Public Review

NEW YORK – Two draft standards relevant to arena rigging have been added those available for public review on PLASA’s website. BSR E1.6-4 is for the simple control systems for chain hoists to lift portable trusses and grids. BSR E1.39 is for personal fall arrest systems used by people working on those trusses and grids and other portable structures – such as lighting towers – commonly used for shows.

Portable Stage Draft Standard in Public Review

NEW YORK – BSR E1.21 – 201x, Entertainment Technology — Temporary Ground-Supported Structures Used to Cover the Stage Areas and Support Equipment in the Production of Outdoor Entertainment Events, is in review through May 27, 2013. Anyone with a material interest in stage roofs and other portable structures used in outdoor events is invited to review the draft document and to offer comments.
