GLP JDC1 Hybrids Track Skiing/Snowboarding Tricks on the Slopes of Canada’s Big Air Show

Crowds congregate annually at the base of the ‘Smart Alec’ ski trail in Ontario to watch the province’s finest freestyle skiers and snowboarders perform choreographed flips and tricks off the 50’ Big Air Jump, accompanied by music, lights, fireworks, and all manner of show sizzle. To provide this for the Big Air Show, as the event is known, required the building of a technical infrastructure, with towers rigged with 24 of GLP’s ultra-versatile JDC1 hybrid strobes so that spectators could track the action coming down the 200’ slope and onto the landing ramp. Ontario’s Centre In the Square Relies on Strand Consoles

KITCHENER, Ontario, Canada — Centre in the Square, which was founded more than 30 years ago, now stages more than 180 events seen by some 200,000 visitors every year. Terry Hynes, head of lighting, oversees both the main stage within 2,047-seat Raffi Armenian Theatre — the main performance space for the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony — as well as the smaller Studio Theatre. For lighting control, he relies upon the Light Palette Live and Palette VL16 consoles from Philips Strand Lighting.
