21st Parnelli Awards Offer Surprises, Emotions, and Winners

Always full of surprises and the unexpected, the 21st Annual Parnelli Awards held on Friday April 14 started out with a big one: Outgoing NAMM CEO/President Joe Lamond was initiated in the Parnelli Hall of Fame. Also getting their due: Roy Lamb (Lifetime Achievement Award), Keny Whitright (Visionary Award), Marty Garcia (Audio Innovator) and more than two dozen others.

The crowd gathered to Celebrate the Life of Richard “Nook” Schoenfeld with LD & MC John Featherstone leading the remembrances. Musicians Tom Liebermann on guitar, and Tim O’Keefe on percussion and harmonica added some live music to the evening.

Scholarship in the Name of Nook Schoenfeld

The family of Richard “Nook” Schoenfeld is looking to establish a scholarship in his name at The Arete Academy, which is a school one of his son attends. The Arete Academy is celebrating their 10th year as a school and are developing a scholarship drive: ten $10k scholarships for their 10th year.

In Memoriam: Richard ‘Nook’ Schoenfeld

A remembrance of Richard “Nook” Schoenfeld, 65. Editor Emeritus of PLSN magazine and a noted Lighting Designer and Writer, Nook died on the morning of Dec. 14, 2022. Though he had beaten pancreatic cancer this past year and was cancer-free, complications from that fight resulted in liver failure. He was a legend for his wit and kindness and his loss is felt by family, friends, colleagues, and the industry as a whole.
