Designing Catherine of Aragon’s costume in SIX the Musical

SIX the Musical is a pop-Tudor mashup, fusing historical and contemporary references to tell the story of the six wives of Henry VIII. Costume designer Gabriella Slade and costume supervisor Justin Allin take us behind the scenes, revealing the secrets of Catherine of Aragon’s striking glitzy gold costume in this video from the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Astera Titans for Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival

Astera Titan Tubes provided a great solution for the lighting of a rolling ‘small stage’ scenic truck which was central to the action for the 2022 Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival’s acclaimed production of Alessandro nell’Indie (Alexander in India) by Leonardo Vinci, directed by Max Emmanuel Cancic and lit by David Debrinay from Paris and Lyon, France, based design studio, LJOMA. 2022 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awardees Announced

TDF, the not-for-profit service organization for the performing arts, is proud to announce that celebrated costume designer Fred Voelpel and legendary scenic designer Eugene Lee are among the 2022 TDF/Irene Sharaff Award recipients. Although Voelpel passed away in June, he will be honored posthumously with the TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design while Lee will receive The Robert L. B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design. Additionally, costume designer Dede Ayite will receive the TDF/Kitty Leech Young Master Award and visual artist Michael Curry will receive the TDF/Irene Sharaff Artisan Award.

The awards ceremony will be presented through the TDF Costume Collection on Friday, October 7 at 6:30 p.m. at The Edison Ballroom. The new ventures join existing AvLt studios in Boston, New York, and Raleigh.

Museum of Broadway to Open in Times Square in Summer 2022

NEW YORK – The Museum of Broadway, a museum dedicated to the storied history, legendary artistry, and lasting legacy of Broadway musicals, plays, and theaters, will open next summer in the heart of Times Square at 145 West 45th Street.
