The LDI Show returned to Las Vegas after a busy year of live event productions across North America. The aisles were busy with production pros seeking to gear up for another busy year ahead, with exhibitors unveiling as many new products as steadily improving supply chain conditions would permit.
For Burna Boy’s supercharged performance at the Curaçao Festival Center in late October, Massive Productions’ Ramon Ramiz stepped in as LD for the artist, lighting the Grammy-winning singer and his fans with the power of 90 Chauvet Professional fixtures from Massive Productions and its partner, Aruba Elite Productions.
Big concert tours were back in a big way this past summer and The Weeknd’s ambitious “After Hours til Dawn” outing is perhaps the best example. Lighting designer Jason Baeri is using over 450 Elation Proteus Hybrid™ and Proteus Excalibur™ moving head luminaires as workhorse fixtures on the tour, an elaborate, visually striking show that has been selling out major stadiums across North America since July. The first leg of the all-stadium tour kicked off on July 14 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia and concludes on November 27 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. The tour is also scheduled to visit South America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Australia.
Robe was the moving light of choice for the 2022 Saaremaa Opera Festival staged in a purpose-built tented arena erected beside the charismatic Kuressaare Castle in the south of Saaremaa Island, Estonia, which was the dramatic location for five days of popular opera and other performances, all presented this year by the Silesian Opera (Opera Śląska) from Bytom, Poland.Read More »Robe for Saaremaa Opera Festival 2022
The much-anticipated 2022 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) proved every bit as thrilling, visually dramatic and sonically entertaining as music fans globally have come to expect of this high-profile live broadcast extravaganza! The Lumineers’ “Brightside” tour brings a production family back together with Tour Director Sara Full, Designers Sooner Routhier and Robert Long of SRae Productions and Lighting Director Ian Haslauer. The show is triumph of lighting, video, and automation.
The show ¡Hasta que se nos hizo! was presented in June at the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City where renowned Mexican singers Lucero and Manuel Mijares delighted the audience with a litany of hits from more than 40 years in the entertainment industry. Axel Rebollo, in charge of lighting and production design for the show, used Elation Professional’s 51,000-lumen Artiste Mondrian™ LED profile FX moving head, along with Chorus Line 16™ and Protron 3K Color™, to highlight the set. Recently, AOTO installed a huge L-shaped outdoor advertising LED screen on the façade of Guangzhou Grandview Mall, the commercial and cultural center in the Tianhe District, Guangzhou. The opening ceremony of the 20th Games Of Jiangsu Province was held on the evening of Aug. 28 in Taizhou Sports Park in China. The theme for this cultural and sports ceremony was “Phoenix brings auspiciousness to the water city, and the river and sea are peaceful.” New technologies featured during the opening ceremony included laser projection, mobile screens, human/screen interaction, 3D without specialty glasses and augmented reality. Following a spring run of shows, Santana toured the U.S. from June 17 to Aug. 27 with opening act Earth, Wind & Fire. Santana’s “Miraculous Supernatural Tour” featured a lighting design by Michael Ledesma that included Elation Protron Eclypse hybrid LED luminaires and SEVEN Batten 14 LED strip lights. Both luminaires allowed for a full range of possibilities to complement the 75-year-old artist’s trademark guitar riffs with bright, vivid colors.
