GLP has appointed DataVisual Marketing as its new Canadian distributor. The move was formally announced at the recent CITT conference and trade show in Saskatoon and is perfectly timed as DataVisual – with a rich portfolio of traditional AV brands onboard – looks to diversify further into the concert lighting space.
‘Love & Laughter’, a collaboration between R&B singer Toni Braxton and stand-up comedian Cedric the Entertainer, is a Las Vegas residency at the 3,200-seat Chelsea theatre at the Cosmopolitan Hotel. The shows marked the American concert debut of GLP’s JDC2 IP versatile new hybrid strobe – specified by Lighting Designer Ryan Healey, and were supplied by Volt Lites.
The Electric Love electronic music festival promised music, spirit, adventure and community. A top line-up with over 200 artists on a total of six stages and 180,000 visitors from 70 nations made the Salzburgring shake again at the beginning of July. GLP contributed to the power of the spectacle with a range of weather-protected devices.
Colorado-based Brown Note Productions recently fielded GLP products to help provide a riveting backdrop and enhance the natural wonder that is the Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The show was a fast-moving, high-octane performance by South African DJ/producer Black Coffee and guests. For this production, GLP solutions formed the major part of a lighting design that was piloted by Chris Thoms.
In recent months, turnkey production design studio and rental company Maktive has invested heavily in GLP’s new impression X5 IP platform—sensing both the potential for deployment in the arduous weather conditions of the outdoor season and that the common chipset will guarantee uniform, homogenous color.
GLP’s latest generation products were out in force at BBC Radio 1’s recent Big Weekend, held over the May Bank Holiday at Stockwood Park in Luton, UK. This drew crowds of around 100,000 across and featured as headliners Coldplay, Sabrina Carpenter, and Rudimental. But it was long-time GLP advocate Sam Tozer who again custom-lit the stage for electronic duo Chase & Status, drawing on large quantities of new generation impression X5 IP Bar 1000s, XDC1 IP Hybrid and JDC1 hybrid strobes. Over 160 fixtures were supplied by LCR (Lights Control Rigging).Read More »GLP Goes Big for Chase & Status and Joel Corry at Radio 1’s Big Weekend
