The voting for the Parnelli Hometown Hero – Lighting Company of the Year Award is now open. PLSN readers get to vote for the six top regional lighting companies in North America—one for each of five U.S. regions, and a sixth for all of Canada. These votes will narrow the field from 36 to six regional winners, who will then appear on the Parnelli Awards ballot for a second round of voting. Live entertainment lighting and trucking company Upstaging marked its 50th anniversary in 2022. During the past half century co-founders, brothers Robert and Don Carone, and Robin Shaw, joined in 1979 by John Huddleston, have turned Upstaging from a garage-based pioneer into a stalwart of the industry. The Red Hot Chili Peppers’ 2022 Global Stadium Tour has been packing large venues on both sides of the Atlantic this year, with plans to continue to Australia and New Zealand in early 2023. Premier Global Production has been supporting the tour with 250 Chauvet Professional fixtures.
TDF, the not-for-profit service organization for the performing arts, is proud to announce that celebrated costume designer Fred Voelpel and legendary scenic designer Eugene Lee are among the 2022 TDF/Irene Sharaff Award recipients. Although Voelpel passed away in June, he will be honored posthumously with the TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design while Lee will receive The Robert L. B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design. Additionally, costume designer Dede Ayite will receive the TDF/Kitty Leech Young Master Award and visual artist Michael Curry will receive the TDF/Irene Sharaff Artisan Award.
The awards ceremony will be presented through the TDF Costume Collection on Friday, October 7 at 6:30 p.m. at The Edison Ballroom.
