After British rock guitarist Jeff Beck died unexpectedly on Jan. 10, 2023, Debi Moen touched base with three lighting professionals, David “Gurn” Kaniski, Michael Keller, and Chris Stuba, who were all involved with Beck’s last tour. “Billboard” magazine recently ranked tours around the world by total ticket sales from November 2021 through October 2022. The Showtime section within PLSN’s January 2023 issue focuses on the lighting, staging and video production teams and equipment supporting these tours.

Classic and crossover violinist David Garrett is a unique, interesting, and fun artist to light requiring a mix of treatments inspired by multiple visual genres, which is one of the many aspects – and challenges – relished by Lighting Designer Gerard Maijenburg who has worked with him for the last seven years. American electro-pop artist Ari Staprans Leff, who performs under the stage name Lauv, is currently on his All 4 Nothing Tour with dates running into December in the U.S. Designers Parker Genoway and Cory FitzGerald of Silent House, and Lighting Programmer/Director Will Flavin, spoke with PLSN about the lighting and video of the production, supplied by LMG.
Based in Tinley Park, IL, JRLX provides touring production, lighting, and visual solutions beyond their Chicago region in addition to their offerings in technical sales and integration. Today the business is about 75 percent sales and integration and 25 percent touring. Partners Jason Reberski (CEO) and Kevin Rosenhagen (COO) tell PLSN how their taking a measured approach to growth in this often-volatile industry has allowed JRLX to thrive.
