The Woodstock Music Festival began on Aug. 15, 1969, drawing half a million people to Max Yasgur’s dairy farm in Bethel, NY. Here’s a video about the iconic event along with a link to PLSN’s interview with Chip Monck, the festival’s PM/LD, for the “Flashback” feature in the August 2022 issue.

The Design Oasis Lights Two Rolling Loud Stages and Grounds with Chauvet Professional Fixtures

Abbas Ritscher and his team at The Design Oasis made up for the lack of front-lighting at the Rolling Loud festival’s Snipes Stage by grabbing 12 extra Chauvet Professional Maverick Storm 1 Wash fixtures from their inventory and hanging them “as far down the stage as we could” for a camera-friendly lighting design. The Design Oasis also used Chauvet fixtures to illuminate the smaller VH1 stage and the festival grounds.

Chris Lisle and Elation Keep the Beat on Lollapalooza Perry’s Stage

It’s been a busy year for lighting and production designer Chris Lisle and his company CLLD. The production design firm recently wrapped up work on Lollapalooza, their sixth major event back to back, where they relied on an Elation-centered rig including Proteus series IP65 luminaires to light Perry’s Stage.
