Ask any theatre professional if they’ve got a good ghost story and they’ll likely jump at the opportunity to recall a supposed first-hand encounter with the paranormal.  Whether you believe in the supernatural or not, the world of theatre has always been a breeding ground for superstition and mythmaking. The Geffen Playhouse, one of Los Angeles’ premiere theatre companies, recently found themselves with a ghost story of their own—one that was put to rest with the help of ETC’s Sensor3 dimmer racks and Paradigm processors.

In Memoriam: William “Bill” Moodie, Lighting Representative and Salesperson, 94

Born September 21, 1929, William “Bill” Moodie died on December 29, 2023, at the age of 94. Moodie, while known for his loud shirts, was a great salesman who built longtime relationships with his clients and customers. He loved to share his knowledge and mentor the next generations of lighting professionals through his work with USITT and Educational Theater Association. There will be a Celebration of Life for Bill Moodie that will take place on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 3:00pm at Ancillary Studios @ South Coast Plaza, 3333 Bristol St, Costa Mesa, CA 92626. Element 2 and Multiverse Bring Big Upgrades to Tennessee High School

ETC’s ColorSource Spot V fixtures at St. Cecilia Academy

The students of St. Cecilia Academy in Nashville, TN were ecstatic last fall when their technical theater program was ushered into the 21st century with equipment from ETC and City Theatrical. The school replaced all of their theatre’s conventional incandescent lights with ETC’s ColorSource Spot V, Fresnel V, and CYC luminaires. The school’s 30-year-old ETC Inspire console was retired to introduce an Element 2 to the students, and the whole system was linked by City Theatrical’s Wireless DMX Multiverse®. As ETC approaches its 50th anniversary, it enters a new period of growth. This was demonstrated at a company meeting on February 20. After CEO, Dick Titus, discussed upcoming corporate goals, member of the Board of Directors and son of Fred Foster, James Foster announced that ETC has expanded its employee stock option program, making the company 100% employee owned. Applications Open for 2024 ETC Fred Foster Student Mentorship Program

ETC is officially accepting applications for the 2024 Fred Foster Student Mentorship Program. Selected students will be introduced to established industry professionals through a series of lively online events. Ultimately, each student will be paired with at least one mentor who will help guide their transition into the working world. ETC will accept applications to the 2024 program through April 12, 2024.
