Still Time to Register for ESTA’s Plugfest

There’s still time to register for ESTA’s Plugfest, where manufacturers and developers test their lighting products for interoperability. Plugfest 2024 takes place October 24 through October 27, 2024, at the Marriott Dallas/Fort Worth in Westlake, Texas. Attendance is free for both ESTA members and non-members.

Nominations are Open for the 2025 ESTA Board of Directors

ESTA is seeking passionate, motivated individuals to join its Board of Directors and help guide the association into a future filled with excitement, possibilities, and growth. A number of Board positions are available for the January 1, 2025 – December 31, 2027 term. The nomination deadline is September 9, 2024. 

NATEAC General Registration is Open

NATEAC registration is now open to the public at nateac.org. General registration costs $850; student registration is $350 with a valid .edu email address. When you register, you’ll also have an opportunity to purchase tickets to the charity dinner supporting Behind the Scenes at $175 (charity dinner tickets may be purchased separately during the conference as well).

ESTA’s Technical Standard Program Seeking Public Reviews

ESTA’s Technical Standard Program announces three newly-published standard reaffirmations, and seven documents now in public review: Three of ESTA’s existing standards were approved for reaffirmation recently, and have been published, now available for free. Seven documents – one reaffirmation, two new draft standards, and four revised draft standards – are now in public review until 08 April 2024.

ESTA Announces 2024-2026 Board of Directors Election Results

Midwest Rigging Intensive Trainers Receive Volunteer of the Year Award

A team of nine ETCP Recognized Trainers are the recipients of ESTA’s Frank Stewart Volunteer of the Year Award for service in both 2022 and 2023: Bennett Brian (Reed Rigging, Inc.), Tyler DeLong (DeLong Rigging Solutions), Brent “Mickey” Henry (ETC), Shane Kelly (DePaul University), Rebecca Knipfer (ETC), Ed Leahy (The Chicago Flyhouse, Inc.), Verda Beth Martell (DLR Group), Tracy Nunnally (Vertigo), and Patrick Stewart (ETC), whose father is the award’s namesake. These trainers tirelessly volunteered around their busy schedules to plan, design, and deliver a curriculum for the Midwest Rigging Intensive (MRI) two years in a row.Read More »Midwest Rigging Intensive Trainers Receive Volunteer of the Year Award

ESTA TSP: 12 Draft Standards in Public Review

ESTA’s Technical Standards Program (TSP) announces a dozen draft standards in public review; 11 in development, one to be withdrawn. Twelve public review action items came out of the recent July Technical Standards Program working group meetings held in Westlake, TX, where over 160 attendees across 10 discrete working groups came together to keep the development process moving forward. These public reviews will all run for 45 days, ending on Sept. 26, 2023.

ESTA Announces the 2023 Board of Directors Election Results

The results are in for the 2023 ESTA Board of Directors election. Incumbent Todd Spencer of Ventana Capital Investments will return as President, and incumbent Joe Aldridge will return as Individual Director. Hannah R. Applications Open for New Equitable Workforce Initiative from ESTA

The Equitable Workforce Initiative (EWI), the diversity program for rental companies announced by The Entertainment Services and Technology Association (ESTA) at NAB in April, is now accepting applications. The initiative, sponsored by Netflix as part of its Fund for Creative Equity, focuses on improving equity and diversity in the industry by developing well-trained workers from underrepresented communities and increasing representation over time within rental company management.
