Electrosonic Marks 50 Years

LOS ANGELES — Electrosonic noted that March 2014 marks the 50th anniversary of the company’s founding. To help mark the milestone, the company is publishing Electrosonic – 50 Years on the Audio-Visual Front Line, written by co-founder Robert Simpson.

Electrosonic Appoints Les Hill to Orlando Office

ORLANDO – Electrosonic has appointed Les Hill, senior systems consultant, to its Orlando office to reinforce the company’s commitment to audio-visual service and systems engineering support for Florida’s large theme park and tourist industry.  Hill will be responsible for expanding new business opportunities and building on existing partnerships. He joined Electrosonic in 2005 at the company’s Burbank, CA, headquarters and is responsible for many of Electrosonic’s West Coast and Asia entertainment projects in the museum, theme park and live entertainment markets.

Eaton Experience Center

Electrosonic Supplies Cleveland’s Eaton Experience Center

CLEVELAND – Electrosonic was charged with designing the AV systems, media control and power management for Cleveland’s Eaton Experience Center, which combines art and information. The centerpiece of the atrium is a five-story chandelier comprised of Traxon custom Mesh RGB LED wrapped into a cylinder 53 feet tall by 12 feet in diameter. The LED mesh combines a woven stainless steel mesh grid with individually-addressable LEDs to form a canvas for vivid, large-scale media. The chandelier can display specific media on a predetermined timeline or media for a particular show via a Medialon show controller.

Electrosonic Promotes Rob Smith to Sales Manager EMEA

LOS ANGELES – Electrosonic has promoted Rob Smith to sales manager of the Cultural Entertainment and Leisure (CEL) business for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Smith joined Electrosonic in 2010 as client account manager for the CEL team. Smith has spent 20 years in the AV industry. Before that, he served in the Royal Air Force as an avionics engineer.

ATLANTA – When The Weather Channel wanted to upgrade the primary studio set at its Atlanta headquarters, it turned to Electrosonic to install a new video wall. Comprised of 12 Christie Entero LED-illuminated rear-projection display cubes, the new system serves as a backdrop for on-air talent and is a vehicle for live video and map presentations.

Electrosonic Acquires Global Immersion

LOS ANGELES – Electrosonic has acquired Global Immersion, a designer and integrator of high performance digital immersive theater attractions. The acquisition, completed on Dec. 10, 2012, allows Electrosonic to expand its reach to offer digital immersive solutions across the theme park, museum, giant screen cinema and planetarium markets.

Electrosonic Provides AV Systems to Nature Research Center

RALEIGH, NC  – The Nature Research Center (NRC) wing of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences dazzled visitors at its recent opening with its array of interactive exhibits and experiences featuring audio-visual systems by Electrosonic. Its new, 80,000-sq.ft. Nature Research Center offers labs, research opportunities, interactive exhibits and live presentations designed to make science a tangible and fun experience. Small Design Firm was charged with designing the interactives; Batwin & Robin Productions was the content producer.
