Actors’ Equity Association Announces New Public Health Consultants

Actors’ Equity Association, the national labor union representing more than 51,000 professional stage managers and actors in live theatre, has announced that a team of doctors led by Dr. Mark Cunningham-Hill—and includes Dr. Laura S. Welch and Dr. Steven J. Anderson—are the new public health consultants for the union, effective immediately. UK’s ‘Theatres at Risk Register’ Expands by 10, Total of 41 Venues in Danger of Being Lost

Theatres Trust, the charity that campaigns to protect the UK’s theatres, has published its annual Theatres at Risk Register. 10 theatres have been added to the 2022 Register, far more than in any recent years, as the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic is being felt across the theatre sector. Theatre Communications Group Releases 41st Annual Research Report: Theatre Facts 2020

Not-for-profit theatres contributed nearly $2.1 billion to the U.S. economy and attracted 23 million attendees, according to Theatre Facts 2020, released by Theatre Communications Group (TCG), in partnership with SMU DataArts. Broadway Theaters Announce Vaccination and Mask Requirements

NEW YORK – The Broadway League announced July 30 that all 41 Broadway theaters in New York City will require vaccinations for audience members, as well as performers, backstage crew, and theatre staff, for all performances through Oct. 2021. Masks will also be required for audiences inside the theatre, except while eating or drinking in designated locations.

Following the COVID-19 emergency shift to online teaching, The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) professors Stirling Shelton, Professor of Technical Direction and Steve Miller, Associate Director of Theater Operations knew they didn’t want a repeat of the spring 2020 going into the fall of the 2020-2021 academic year. Their plan? To find a way to work around the obstacles and provide their students with the best learning options imaginable. Joined by fellow faculty, Mark A.
