Iconic Paradiso Updates with CHAUVET Professional

From the outside, the sturdy three-story former church with a central clock just off Leidse Square in Amsterdam looks much like any of the other majestic stone structures built in northern Europe during the late 19th century. Inside, though, this building’s walls reverberate with the echoes of a very unique musical heritage that began 55 years ago when it was reborn as Paradiso, with an inaugural concert by Pink Floyd.Read More »Iconic Paradiso Updates with CHAUVET Professional

Public Address/Stagers Helps Séries Mania Festival Shine in Rain with CHAUVET Professional

The Séries Mania Festival created a global buzz a few years ago when it hosted the world premiere of the long-awaited Netflix series The Rain. None of the 32 premieres showcased at the four-day festival this year had rain in their titles, but there was plenty of precipitation outside. The inclement weather did nothing, however, to dampen the excitement at an event that Variety magazine has hailed as “Europe’s Premier TV Festival.” Nor did it interfere with the bright and colorful lighting that enhanced the upbeat mood at the world-renowned gala and conference, which drew TV executives from 64 different countries.Read More »Public Address/Stagers Helps Séries Mania Festival Shine in Rain with CHAUVET Professional

Pharrell Williams’ ‘Something in the Water’ Shines in the Rain with Harford Sound and CHAUVET Professional

Lil Wayne, Third Eye Blind, Wu-Tang Clan, Nile Rodgers, Babyface Ray, Maren Morris… There were plenty of stars at Pharrell Williams’ Something in the Water festival, but sadly, there was plenty of water too. High winds and rains along the Atlantic coast battered the superstar’s three-day event; a tornado even touched down nearby. Things got so bad, Friday and Saturday’s shows had to be delayed, while Sunday’s was completely canceled.Read More »Pharrell Williams’ ‘Something in the Water’ Shines in the Rain with Harford Sound and CHAUVET Professional

Events United Shines for Flo Rida Marathon Monday Show with CHAUVET Professional

Sunlight! Everyone loves it. Even life itself depends on it. But anyone trying to generate lighting excitement on an outdoor stage during daylight hours would rather it go away. Most often, festival LDs can take solace knowing that eventually the sun will go down, freeing them to create eye-popping looks in the dark. The team at Events United had no such luxury. They had to create sizzling looks for one of hip-hop’s most dynamic artists on a small stage for a show that took place entirely during daylight hours.Read More »Events United Shines for Flo Rida Marathon Monday Show with CHAUVET Professional

The Art of Asymmetry at Connection Pointe Christian Church with CHAUVET Professional

“Seldom is asymmetry merely the absence of symmetry,” wrote the German mathematician Herman Weyl. The famed theorist made this observation in relation to one of his landmark scientific and philosophical studies, but his words apply equally well to design. At their best, asymmetrical looks possess a unique power all their own to endow a stage with a sense of rhythm and motion that challenges the observer to see things in a new way.Read More »The Art of Asymmetry at Connection Pointe Christian Church with CHAUVET Professional

Luke Stratton Creates Mood for The Smashing Pumpkins with CHAUVET Professional

Luke Stratton didn’t have to read between the lines when he saw the creative brief for Smashing Pumpkins’ The World Is A Vampire festival, which took place in early March. He knew that the stage was going to be massive. “When I got the stage dimensions from the promoter and the lighting inventory list, I knew we were going big,” said Stratton. “Our trim wound up being about 60-feet to the steel and the stage itself was about 90′ by 70′, so yes, it was quite large.”Read More »Luke Stratton Creates Mood for The Smashing Pumpkins with CHAUVET Professional

Proaudio del Norte and CHAUVET Professional Help Mario Moro Flores Convey Mood of Banda MS

“We have broken paradigms,” Sergio Lizárraga, leader of Banda MS once told an interviewer, referring to his band’s popularity, which has transcended all expectations to prove that banda music has unlimited appeal in today’s market beyond Mexico. Sold out shows before wildly appreciative crowds from Nashville to Las Vegas have provided convincing proof of Lizárraga’s paradigm busting claim. It’s easy to see why fans are falling in love with this band. Bouncy songs like “Por Mi No Te Detengas,” and “El Color de Tus Ojos” will make anyone feel like dancing, regardless of where they’re from or which language they speak. And ballads like “Quien Pierde Mas,” can spark romance anywhere.Read More »Proaudio del Norte and CHAUVET Professional Help Mario Moro Flores Convey Mood of Banda MS

Mike Grabowski was thrilled with his experience designing the multiple stages under his purview for Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest in Times Square this year, except for one thing. His single regret didn’t involve the rain that fell for much of the evening, either. After all, the “unpredictability of nature,” comes with the territory when lighting outdoor events, said The Lighting Design Group’s senior designer. Plus, given that most of his rig was IP65 rated, he had little to worry about regarding the showers. (He and the team have seen a lot of challenging weather, being at Times Square on NYE, for over a decade of these shows.)Read More »CHAUVET Professional Creates NYE Magic for Mike Grabowski and The Lighting Design Group
