LOS ANGELES – LD Tom Kenny added Clay Paky’s Sharpy fixtures to his dynamic lighting mix on The Who’s North American tour, ‘Quadrophenia and More.’ He says he used the Sharpys’ effects to “sculpt the stage show and add drama, dimension and high impact architecture to the multimedia set.”

LOS ANGELES – Maroon 5’s Overexposed tour of North America includes Clay Paky Sharpy fixtures, which are used as a wall of light upstage of the LED screens; when the screens rotate, 144 Sharpys are revealed. Production designer/artistic director Demfis Fyssicopulos credited the grandMA2 console used for the tour, not just to control the Sharpys, but also “a plethora of media servers and custom Control Freak Systems solutions.”

Last month, I found myself in a gig where I needed a couple dozen small footprint, yet powerful, wash lights to tuck into corners of a giant stage. I researched all the various LED heads on the market. Each one had some fancy function that separated them from the next. It was hard to choose. Then my friend Dennis Flenniken asked if I had seen Clay Paky’s first foray into the moving LED head department. He told me that the reason CP had not built an LED head yet was that they were waiting to come up with one that was superior to all other fixtures. He was not wrong.

Miss Albania Pageant Looks to Clay Paky, ASLV

Republic of ALBANIA – The Miss Albania 2012 pageant has taken place every year since 1998 in Albanian historic sites and castles. The lighting design must then take into account the nationwide TV coverage, the talent and the towering sites and castles as part of the scenic elements. Italian director of photography Franco Ferrari chose Clay Paky fixtures including the Sharpys to handle his challenges of the annual pageant. ASLV supplied the lighting and video equipment.

LD Hugh Taranto Uses Clay Paky for Australia’s ‘The Voice’

SYDNEY – Australian LD Hugh Taranto has created a rock concert look in the country’s version of the hit TV show, ‘The Voice.” In his rig he’s using Clay Paky fixtures supplied by Sydney-based Chameleon Touring Systems. The set and lighting design follow the template of the overseas versions of ‘The Voice,’ which originally hails from the Netherlands.

Clay Paky Hosts South African Roadshow

DURBAN, South Africa –Clay Paky received a positive response to its South African Roadshow, with a number of lighting professionals attending product demonstrations in venues in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town. Clay Paky’s Massimo Bolandrina and Gianluca Breda presented demonstrations including the new Shotlight Wash and Sharpy along with fixtures from the Alpha Range of spots and washes.
