Clay Paky Lights Help Rolling Stones at Glastonbury

UK – For three days and three nights, 135,000 Glastonbury Festival revelers saw their favorite headline acts, lit by some of the best lighting designers, play the Pyramid Stage. Taking care of the festival house rig was head of lighting, Andy “Fraggle” Porter, who chose Clay Paky’s Alpha Profile 1500s and Alpha Wash 1500s to deliver beam shaping, vibrant color and bright effects to the long-running event.

Clay Paky Goes for Gold at Mediterranean Games

ISTANBUL, Turkey  – Istanbul-based event engineering company Phantom has supplied a team of Clay Paky Alpha, A.Leda, and Sharpy fixtures to light the 2013 Mediterranean Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies. Eighteen months of preparation culminated in the June 20 Opening Ceremony of the 17th Mediterranean Games in Mersin, Turkey. LD Jean-François Bonnement from Paris-based visual arts company Concept K specified more than 400 Clay Paky fixtures in his design.

Clay Paky Tours Europe with Chris de Burgh

AUGSBURG, Germany – European singer/songwriter Chris de Burgh is touring Europe with a design created by LD Chris Schatz. The LD, from Klinkertor Studios/Schattenwerk, has chosen 20 Clay Paky Sharpys and a large number of MA Lighting products for the tour. Augusta, GA-based Gruppe 20 has provided the lighting, rigging, audio and transportation for the two-trailer run.

Clay Paky on ‘The Voice of Germany’ TV Show

BERLIN – ProSieben and SAT.1 has launched its new season of “The Voice of Germany,” a German talent show, recently broadcast from Studio Berlin Adlershof. The show is based on “The Voice” TV format, produced by Talpa Media and Schwartzkopff TV Productions.  LD Manuel da Costa used about 300 moving lights, including 50 Clay Paky Sharpys and the new Elidy LED system made by the French manufacturer Chromlech, which Lightpower has recently begun distributing.

Clay Paky Lights Up Red Hot Chili Peppers at Coachella

LOS ANGELES – When the annual Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival got underway, with its 24/7 schedule and desert location, Clay Paky lighting took center stage for the Main Stage performances of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.  Lighting designer Scott Holthaus had 70 Clay Paky Sharpys and 23 Clay Paky Alpha Beam 1500s in his inventory for the Chili Peppers’ nighttime shows on both festival weekends.

Clay Paky Conquers the 2013 Eurovision Stage

MALMO, Sweden – Lighting designer Fredrik Jönsson specified more than 700 Clay Paky fixtures to provide lighting effects forming the centerpiece of the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest. With the theme “We Are One,” a key element was the ability to include the audience with whatever happened onstage, as part of the televised experience. Jönsson’s approach to the design was to create a massive video projection wall, using the lighting rig – placed on fixed and movable trusses – as the main attraction.

Clay Paky Stars on Eros Ramazzotti’s European Tour

ITALY – Eros Ramazzotti’s European tour set, video and lighting were designed and built by lighting and video designer Jvan Morandi and his company Placing Shadow. Morandi explains the design. “The set itself consists of large hanging parallelepipeds, which are fitted with high resolution LED panels and large areas for video projections. The entire 18-ton assembly is equipped with a vertical automation system attached to the corners of the 3-D structures (four triangles, a diamond and a cube), which can be moved to give substance to the scene.”

Sharpy Shines From Lake Garda Lighthouse

RIVA, Italy – The Spiaggia degli Olivi lighthouse, a historic monument on Lake Garda, was turned off about 40 years ago. Restoration work has turned on the light again – but instead of the complicated original 24-volt mechanism, there is a new Clay Paky Sharpy inside the lantern room, which is not only able to reproduce the brightness of the old lighthouse, but also its perfect movement.

Clay Paky Defies Snow and Ice for German TV Show

BAD KLEINKIRCHHEIM, Austria – Clay Paky lights starred on entertainment pop music show, “Wenn die Musi Spielt,” broadcast live by the German public television network. The event took place outdoors on an open air stage in an Austrian ski resort, where the lighting was successfully challenged by an environment of snow and ice.

Clay Paky’s Sharpy Wash starts with Philips’ MSD Platinum 16R 330W lamp as a light source and adds features including a CMY color system, color wheel, mechanical dimmer, rotating beam-shaper, motorized top-hat and 6.5°-48° zoom. It also offers two frost filter choices, a Fresnel lens and speed of movement comparable to the original Sharpy. The light source produces 16,000 lumens of output in the 8,000K color temperature range and the fixture operates at 550W as a whole.
