Bastille Touring with Geometric Lighting Design, Clay Paky Gear

RALEIGH, NC — Lighting and show designers Jamie Thompson and Bryan Leitch have included Clay Paky’s Sharpy fixtures in the rig lighting British rockers Bastille on their worldwide tour. Thompson and Leitch, directors of production design company MIRRAD, took inspiration from the band’s triangular logo for their lighting looks.

SYDNEY — Show Technology, Clay Paky’s distributor for Australia, supplied 14 of the company’s Alpha Spot 300 fixtures to light the Doltone House venue in Sydney’s Hyde Park. The venue, situated on level three of the Tattersalls Club, is used for events ranging from conferences to weddings.

Milan Piazza Lit for the Holidays with Clay Paky Gear

MILAN, Italy — Piazza della Scala, near Milan’s opera house, lit up with a holiday-themed son et lumière show titled Polvere di Stelle (stardust). It ran Dec. 16-Jan. 7. Working for the Milan City Council and others, show designer Sebastiano Romano used seven Clay Paky Alpha Profile 1500s to project images of stars along with greetings in different languages over the entire square and on the façades of surrounding buildings.

VERONA, Italy — Massimo Pascucci, lighting director for Mediaset, worked with a big rig for Gianni Morandi’s Oct. 7 and 8 concerts at the Verona Arena here. The rig for the sold-out shows centered on Clay Paky gear, including 200 Sharpys, 70 Sharpy Wash 330s and more than 60 Alpha Profile 1500s.

NEW YORK — The Public Theater presents free Shakespeare in the Park productions at Central Park’s Delacorte Theater every summer.  This year it paired Comedy of Errors with a spring break-style musical version of Love’s Labour’s Lost. LD Jeff Croiter included Clay Paky Sharpy Wash fixtures in the rig.
