75th Emmy Awards Nominations Announced

The nominations for the 75th Emmy Awards were announced this past week, including the nominees for the Creative Arts Emmys, honoring artistic and technical achievements in television. The 2023 Creative Arts Emmy Awards are currently scheduled to take place at the Peacock Theater over two consecutive nights on Saturday, September 9, and Sunday, September 10.

TONY Awards Celebration Will Not Broadcast on June 11

With the TONY nominations announced barely two weeks ago, the TONY Awards presentation itself is now in limbo. Having not received a requested waiver from the WGA, The 76th Annual TONY Awards, presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing will not be able to move forward with a live broadcast. Scheduled for Sunday, June 11, 2023 from the historic United Palace in Washington Heights, in New York City on CBS, and streamed live and on demand on Paramount+. 2022 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awardees Announced

TDF, the not-for-profit service organization for the performing arts, is proud to announce that celebrated costume designer Fred Voelpel and legendary scenic designer Eugene Lee are among the 2022 TDF/Irene Sharaff Award recipients. Although Voelpel passed away in June, he will be honored posthumously with the TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design while Lee will receive The Robert L. B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design. Additionally, costume designer Dede Ayite will receive the TDF/Kitty Leech Young Master Award and visual artist Michael Curry will receive the TDF/Irene Sharaff Artisan Award.

The awards ceremony will be presented through the TDF Costume Collection on Friday, October 7 at 6:30 p.m. at The Edison Ballroom. In Memoriam: Television Scenic Designer Victor Paganuzzi, 90

PLSN has learned of the death of longtime television Scenic Designer Victor Paganuzzi, who died on June 16, 2022 at age 90. He was the designer of the distinctive set of CBS Sunday Morning and so many other CBS programs. Here’s a video from CBS that was broadcast on July 31, 2011 upon Paganuzzi’s retirement after nearly 50 years at CBS. Paganuzzi explains to Charles Osgood how the inspiration for the original CBS Sunday Morning set came from a baseball diamond.
