DELMAR, CA – For the inaugural KAABOO festival, a three day, seven-stage music event, Nashville based lighting and visuals designer Chris Lisle provided included 20 Robe BMFL Blades in the main stage rig (on a stage dubbed Sunset Cliffs, after a well-known surfing spot.) Music headliners included The Killers, No Doubt, Snoop Dog, The Zac Brown Band and many, many more. “House” LD / programmer Matt Shimamoto and guest LDs for nine of the bands used the fixtures for their sets.

Saddleback Church Uses Absen LED Video Walls for Easter Services

LAKE FOREST, CA — Saddleback Church called CCI Solutions with an Easter challenge. With as many as 35,000 converging at the campus here for holiday services, the church needed LED walls in two of the tents erected for overflow crowds. CGI Solutions turned to Absen to obtain the required 3.9mm LED video gear with a three-week turnaround. The result: a 9.84 by 16.4 foot video wall for Tent 2 and 6.56 by 11.48 foot video wall for Tent 3.

New Gear Lights Stars in the Desert at Coachella 2014

INDIO, CA – The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, staged here over two weekends April 11-13 and April 18-20, featured headliners Muse, Arcade Fire and more than 180 other acts. In the third year of its double-weekend format, Coachella has not only proven to be a success on the balance sheet — tickets for 2014 sold out within three hours — the festival continues to offer 90,000 daily visitors fresh music along with the element of surprise. It’s also become an early-season proving ground of sorts for a variety of lighting fixtures.

Nashville Church Pairs Vista Spyder with new LED Wall

FRANKLIN, TN — The non-denominational Peoples Church, based here, paired a Vista Systems Spyder X20 with a 33-by-10-foot 4mm LED video wall for its 1,750-capacity sanctuary here. Once known as First Baptist, the church dates back to 1838; the current structure was erected 15 years ago. The congregation is currently close to 6,000 in size.

Riedel Opens Office and Training Center in Burbank, CA

Christie Hosts Solutions Showcase

CYPRESS, CA – Christie Digital, along with Draper Inc., Alcorn McBride and Tannoy hosted “Solutions that Rock,” a free event introducing several of its new display solutions to organizations involved with professional AV rental staging, fixed installs and corporate AV environments. The event took place Sept. 17-19 at Grips Local Union Building in Burbank, CA. The road show wraps up its tour with stops Nov. 7-8 in Philadelphia and in Phoenix Dec. 3-5.
