The 1/52 Project, the financial grant program founded by Tony Award-winning set designer Beowulf Boritt, has selected seven early-career designers as its first group of grant recipients. Each of the inaugural recipients will receive grants up to $15,000. The 1/52 Project launched in January 2022 with the goal of providing financial support to rising designers from historically excluded groups with the aim of diversifying and strengthening the Broadway design community.

Axel Rebollo, in charge of lighting and production design for the show, used Elation Professional’s 51,000-lumen Artiste Mondrian™ LED profile FX moving head, along with Chorus Line 16™ and Protron 3K Color™, to highlight the set. DJ and music producer Michael Canitrot presented another innovative Monumental show, this time in front of the incredible Cathedral Notre-Dame of Laon in the city of Aisne in the Hauts-de-France region of France. Canitrot’s Monumental Tour is an incredible journey that germinated from his love of music and monumental architecture and started during the Covid lockdown period, combining streamed live music performances and visual collaborations involving epic, iconic and outstanding monumental sites all around France. The opening ceremony of the 20th Games Of Jiangsu Province was held on the evening of Aug. 28 in Taizhou Sports Park in China. The theme for this cultural and sports ceremony was “Phoenix brings auspiciousness to the water city, and the river and sea are peaceful.” New technologies featured during the opening ceremony included laser projection, mobile screens, human/screen interaction, 3D without specialty glasses and augmented reality. Mexican band Grupo Firme brought the party to U.S. stadiums this summer with their “Enfiestados y Amanecidos” tour, with 3G Productions supplying lighting, video, audio and rigging equipment. Production Designer Andy Ruiz and Lighting Designer/Tour Operator Arturo Sanchez added a festive touch with Elation Smarty Hybrid and Rayzor 760 moving lights along with Cuepix WW2 blinders.
The largest open-air concerts ever held in Munich, and the largest in Germany this year, took place at the Munich Exhibition Center in August with more than 300,000 fans total attending shows by Andreas Gabalier, Helene Fischer and Robbie Williams. Roland Greil lit the epic shows and massive 150-meter wide stage using a rig that included over 450 Elation Professional luminaires.
