More than 450 Proteus Workhorses Light The Weeknd’s ‘After Hours til Dawn’ Stadium Tour

Big concert tours were back in a big way this past summer and The Weeknd’s ambitious “After Hours til Dawn” outing is perhaps the best example. Lighting designer Jason Baeri is using over 450 Elation Proteus Hybrid™ and Proteus Excalibur™ moving head luminaires as workhorse fixtures on the tour, an elaborate, visually striking show that has been selling out major stadiums across North America since July. The first leg of the all-stadium tour kicked off on July 14 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia and concludes on November 27 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. The tour is also scheduled to visit South America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Australia.

Lighting Designer Ben Gilbert Shines a Light on LANY

American pop rock band LANY recently wrapped their 34-city Summer Forever tour with a lighting system supplied by Bandit Lites. The band, named as an acronym for Los Angeles and New York, is comprised of the duo Paul Jason Klein and Jake Clifford Goss. LED Video Solutions for Coheed and Cambria Tour

American progressive rock band Coheed and Cambria traveled across the U.S. over the summer on A Window of The Waking Mind Tour. The 25-stop trek, which took in a mixture of outdoor amphitheaters and indoor arenas, featured an impressive production that was anchored by a giant inflatable set piece flanked by a pair of large video walls constructed from ADJ’s Vision Series VS3 modular LED panels. 2022 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awardees Announced

TDF, the not-for-profit service organization for the performing arts, is proud to announce that celebrated costume designer Fred Voelpel and legendary scenic designer Eugene Lee are among the 2022 TDF/Irene Sharaff Award recipients. Although Voelpel passed away in June, he will be honored posthumously with the TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design while Lee will receive The Robert L. B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design. Additionally, costume designer Dede Ayite will receive the TDF/Kitty Leech Young Master Award and visual artist Michael Curry will receive the TDF/Irene Sharaff Artisan Award.

The awards ceremony will be presented through the TDF Costume Collection on Friday, October 7 at 6:30 p.m. at The Edison Ballroom. The Design Oasis Lights Two Rolling Loud Stages and Grounds with Chauvet Professional Fixtures

Abbas Ritscher and his team at The Design Oasis made up for the lack of front-lighting at the Rolling Loud festival’s Snipes Stage by grabbing 12 extra Chauvet Professional Maverick Storm 1 Wash fixtures from their inventory and hanging them “as far down the stage as we could” for a camera-friendly lighting design. The Design Oasis also used Chauvet fixtures to illuminate the smaller VH1 stage and the festival grounds.
