The Woodstock Music Festival began on Aug. 15, 1969, drawing half a million people to Max Yasgur’s dairy farm in Bethel, NY. Although slated to run three days, it actually ended on the morning of the fourth day when Jimi Hendrix finally got to play, closing out the historic fest.
