SEATTLE — Seattle’s Experience Music Project (EMP), housed in a 140,000-square-foot Frank O. Gehry-designed building that has the striking appearance of a monumental sculpture set amid the backdrop of the Seattle Center. And there are plenty of striking visuals inside as well.
A key focal point within the nonprofit EMP’s weirdly undulating structure is the music venue, Sky Church, and its curved, 60-by-33-foot 7mm indoor LED display.
Spanning the width of Sky Church, the Barco C7 black package LED screen, with HD+ resolution, was recently unveiled for the Nirvana: Taking Punk to the Masses exhibition.
Although it contains more than six times the number of LEDs as the previous LED display, Barco’s C7 uses less power, which kept the need for additional electrical or HVAC upgrades to a minimum.
Sky Church and its new LED display will be used to showcase a wide variety of media, including concert footage, short films, live feeds of museum events and programs, as well as video support for private events, live concerts and film screenings.
