NEW YORK – Window shoppers along Fifth Avenue saw the façade of Saks lit up with a large-scale projection light show, The Snowflake & The Bubble. Bubbles seemingly interacted with snowflakes via a custom-built six-projector system provided by Creative Technology (CT). CT mapped the building's details into a computer for the 3D projection appeared to change the features of the building itself, such as snow gathering up on ledges, bubbles emerging from the windows, and the entire façade appearing to freeze over.
"We really wanted to do more than just create some amazing visual effects," said Sean Reynolds, global Creative Director at iris. "The challenge was really to create a simple, traditional ‘narrative' in keeping with such an iconic NY store, at such a magical time of year."
The projections ran from Thanksgiving through Jan. 6, with the show taking place on the front of the Saks store at 15-minute intervals.
