MADRID — Les Misérables may have opened to tepid reviews in London back in 1985, but the show-going public begged to differ. The London production passed its 10,000 show and 25-year milestones in 2010 and continues to be performed; the show was also a hit on Broadway with 6,680 performances from 1987 to 2003, with a Broadway revival staged from 2006 to 2008.

Among the numerous touring productions was a Spanish-language version, Los Misérables, which visited 20 major venues in Spain and the Canary and Balearic Islands. Creative Technology (CT) supported the touring production with Panasonic PTDS10K projectors and Catalyst Media Servers.

More details from Creative Technology (www.ct-group.com):

The Stage Entertainment España production includes screen projections of paintings of Victor Hugo, the author of the original novel on which the musical is based. Working with Cameron Mackintosh Ltd and Fifty Nine Productions on productions of Les Misérables worldwide, Creative Technology (CT) are providing five Panasonic PTDS10K projectors and a Catalyst playback rack comprised of Catalyst Media Servers. Four of the projectors are positioned on the back wall of the stage while one is front of house aiming at various on-stage positions to project virtual scenery and supporting imagery.

CT has a long and ongoing relationship with Les Misérables, having supported the production at its 25th Anniversary show held at the O2 Arena and for various international tours. Les Misérables has only just returned to Europe with Fifty Nine Productions and Cameron Mackintosh after its tour throughout Korea, courtesy of KCMI Incorporated, where CT provided a similar equipment spec for the Korean tour as to the one in Spain.
