ATLANTA – PPi was called upon to produce the 2012 ICON Honors Award for AmericasMart. Held in the Atrium Ballroom of the Marriott Marquis in downtown Atlanta, the event, with over 800 attendees, recognizes achievements from around the world in the Gift and Home Industry.
For the third year in a row, PPi was asked to create an audio visual design and offer video production services that showed the theme of “genius of American innovation and ingenuity.” PPi’s answer was to take the event to the next level. Andrew McDonald, Managing Director of PPi, said, “We created an experiential evening for guests by enveloping them with ICONic visuals, sounds, entertainment and Honors on two separate stages. It was a proud moment to see the guests give such a big ovation to the opening video sequence alone!”
To create the 180 feet of continuous image, show designer Geoffrey Platt used seven 10k projectors, 4 Catalyst media servers, two Jands Vista lighting consoles, a 180 ft x 15 ft projection surface created using white muslin cycloramas, and two 2.5 ft x 25 ft LED panels. The screen featured a video sequence created by PPi’s creative video services team, including honoree montages shot and recorded in eight different cities.
More than 50 intelligent lighting fixtures and 30 conventional lights were used to highlight the two stages used by the evening’s featured entertainment icons, comedian Jeff Foxworthy and musician Kenny Loggins. In addition, one High End Systems Road Hog Full Boar lighting console specifically supported Kenny Loggins’ performance.
