NEW CASTLE, DE – Video equipment rental company Pete’s Big TVs is supplying the “Super Why Live: You’ve Got the Power” tour across the U.S. with the same type of high resolution LED video screens that they are supplying on Bruce Springsteen’s “Wrecking Ball” world tour.
Managed by S2BN Entertainment, the show is a live, interactive version of the PBS Kid’s animated TV show which aims to educate and empower its young pre-schooler audience.
Pete’s Big TVs is supplying 190 digiLED MC7 high resolution video panels, which make up the main backdrop. The LED panels are attached to a frame with built-in doors – constructed by another company – which allows characters to enter and exit onto the stage.
The show did not require the high resolution that 7mm LED screens provide. However, Pete’s Big TVs’ VP Guy Benjamin said, “Today’s young audiences are more sophisticated because of the technology available, and we have to appeal to the parents who accompany the pre-schoolers as well. The higher resolution LEDs were available so they decided to upgrade it from the lower resolution 15mm screens we provided for the tour last year.”
The projected artwork, created by video designer Shawn Duan, provides animated scenic backgrounds to enhance the live costumed characters onstage. Scenic designer is David Gallo. LD is Mike Baldassari.
While PRG is the lighting vendor, Pete’s Big TVs works directly with S2BN in providing the LED video screens.
Benjamin said, “We also worked with Mike Baldassari and S2BN Entertainment to supply another children’s tour, Yo Gabba Gabba, which recently finished its run this year. Kiddie tours are increasing in popularity and have a growing audience – literally!”
“Super Why Live!” runs April to May in the U.S., with more dates possible.
