ORLANDO – Pearl Media Productions (PMP), a producer of immersive experiences, and Vivitek Corporation, a manufacturer of visual presentation products, collaborated with artist James Peterson to create a 3-D projection of an aquatic creature, which was featured at InfoComm 2013. Titled Aqua Illuminata, this 3-D art installation projection showcased the versatility and clarity of Vivitek’s projectors, while at the same time demonstrating PMP’s 3D projection expertise.

Using PMP’s complex surface mapping, the model for Aqua Illuminata was CNC (Computer Numerical Control) milled and then vacuum-formed. The projected media was reactive to audio, providing conference attendees with the opportunity to experience a fully imagined work of art.
To create this distinctive art experience, 60 feet of LED was pixel-mapped into the tentacles, using four 8K, Vivitek D8800 projectors and two Green Hippo media servers running the video map, audio interaction and pixel map. Additionally, 3-D animator Adrian Scott collaborated on the concept with PMP and Peterson. The technology used can be translated for events, both big and small, music videos and trade shows, among other uses.
