MIAMI – From the moment he stepped on stage at Miami’s American Airlines Arena and sang his 1982 romantic hit “Amor, Amor, Amor,” Julio Iglesias brought his appreciative audience along for a heartfelt and fascinating journey through one of the music world’s most legendary careers. Mixing music, memories, wit and charm, the iconic singer made a strong emotional connection with the large crowd, aided in part by an impressive 31’ by 16.4’ video wall made of 190 PVP S5 panels from Chauvet Professional.
Provided by Design Oasis cross rental house (Davie, FL) and programmed by Scott Chmielewski of DMD s7udios (North Miami Beach, FL), the PVP S5 panels helped convey the magical mood of the concert, which was organized by AEG Live Latino. For example, when Iglesias sang the father-daughter anthem “De Niña A Mujer,” images of him with his own daughter filled the video panels.
“We spec’d and provided the PVP S5 panels for this concert, because we’ve had great experiences with Chauvet video panels at a variety of projects, including the Discover Orange Bowl halftime show,” said Abbas Ritscher, co-owner of Design Oasis, one of the largest 24/7 full-service cross rental companies in South Florida. “The panels are very reliable, easy to work with, and their 5.2 mm pixel pitch provides excellent contrast.”
“Setting up and taking down the Chauvet panels is very easy, because of their interlocking hardware, which is important in a touring application like this,” said Luccas Oliveira, co-owner of the Design Oasis. “Plus they’re very lightweight. On the programming side of things, Scott Chmielewski did an excellent job conveying the deep feelings of the concert through video images.”
High res video panels with black face SMD LEDs, Chauvet Professional PVP S5 panels were designed for presenting live videos and highly defined graphics. The panels feature tight binning of LEDs for consistent color rendering across panels and connectivity using Neutrik powerCON and etherCON connectors.
At the conclusion of his two-hour concert, the 70-year-old Iglesias sang the signature hit he had with Willie Nelson, “To All The Girls I Loved Before.” He then exited the stage, leaving his fans with memories of great concert — and some impressive video images.
