ATLANTA – For Jeffrey Fashion Cares, an annual autumn fashion event that also raises funds for charity, The Magnum Companies Ltd. opted to use 50 of Chauvet Professional’s PVP S5 video panels for a 9-by-16-foot video screen that served as a backdrop for the runway.

For 22 years, this stylish Southern city has kicked off its fall fashion season with a glittery cocktail reception that features a runway show, live and silent charity auctions, and an opportunity to do some elbow-rubbing with high-profile celebrities. Named after its founder, local boutique owner Jeffrey Kalinsky, Jeffrey Fashion Cares has raised more than $12 million over the past two decades for non-profits like the Atlanta AIDS Fund and Susan G. Komen For The Cure. The Bachelorette’s Andi Dorfman and hip-hop artist Chilli from TLC were among the luminaries attending this year’s event, which was held at the Atlanta Cancer Society Center.

For Jeffrey Fashion Cares, an annual autumn fashion event that also raises funds for charity, The Magnum Companies Ltd. opted to use 50 of Chauvet Professional’s PVP S5 video panels for a 9-by-16-foot video screen that served as a backdrop for the runwayKeeping this Atlanta fall fashion classic fresh and engaging is a credit to all involved with Jeffrey Fashion Cares, including The Magnum Companies Ltd. (Atlanta), which has handled the fashion show’s production for the past 10 years. According to Magnum principal Todd Finch, the runway was given a fabulous new eye-catching look this year with PVP S5 LED video panels from Chauvet Professional.

Fifty of the modular panels were assembled together to create a 9’ x 16’ video screen, which served as backdrop for the runway, marking the first time the catwalk had been embellished with cutting-edge pixel-mapping graphics capabilities. The LED screen was used to acknowledge Jeffrey Fashion Cares’ donors and sponsors, display auction items, and add a stunning visual enhancement to this longstanding Atlanta tradition.

The show’s organizers “wanted something fresh and exciting,” explained Finch. “They had been doing the typical white runway panels for years, but wanted to bring an edge of technology to the show – mix it up a bit. They also wanted a better way to recognize their sponsors and to show off the live auction items. So the PVP S5 was a perfect fit.”

With a tight pixel pitch of 5.2 mm and Tri-Color blackface SMD LEDs, the PVP S5 provides high resolution, sharp contrast and superb image quality, at close-range and long viewing distances alike. Lightweight (16.3 lb./7.39 kg) and featuring integrated interlocking hardware, the 19.7” (500mm) square panels are easy to install and can be linked via Neutrik powerCON and etherCON connectors.

The 1,500-NIT illuminance of the PVP S5 provided sufficient brightness to shine through the existing ambient light, another reason why the panels were an ideal choice for Jeffrey Fashion Cares. The event was held in the lobby of the Atlanta Cancer Society, where “there was a lot of light,” noted Finch, “so the PVPs were a great way to go. The panels were awesome; they looked so bright and clear.”

Video content for both the fashion show and live auction was created with Keynote using Mac computers. Finch praised the versatility of the LED screen to adapt to the variety of activities held throughout the evening. “It was a fashion panel with the ability to change (and serve other functions), which made it perfect for the application.”

So perfect that Magnum, which provides production services for numerous charitable events, received a call from Jeffrey Fashion Cares’ organizers requesting that the PVP S5 panels be used at an upcoming benefit they were holding in New York City. The panels, apparently, do a good job getting out the message that a charity “cares.”
