NASHVILLE – Atlanta Audio Visual has been using its PixelFLEX FLEXCurve LED video panels to support the 420 Fest (with two 20-by-11-foot WxH walls), a concert featuring 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne in support of the album, ColleGrove and other events.

With more than 75 years of combined audio/visual and live event production experience, Atlanta Audio Visual has worked with many corporate and commercial clients in a variety of industries. As a comprehensive design firm, president and CEO Brad McWhorter has built the company on a foundation of providing both quality production engineers and the latest in product innovation. When looking to expand their line of LED video technology, McWhorter once again wanted to be at the forefront of the technology development, so he decided to invest in the Parnelli Award-wining FLEXCurve LED video from Nashville-based PixelFLEX.

“We’ve been working with LED video since about 2012, and we recently began looking for new national partnerships with LED video manufacturers,” began McWhorter. “We needed to find a partner that could offer both the latest in technology, but also handle the back end support and scale-up needed for our larger event designs. When we found PixelFLEX we liked that they were based close to us in Nashville and they have a very talented staff of LED video designers and technicians. We then decided to invest in the FLEXCurve 8mm product line because it’s been proven in the industry and it gives us a great opportunity to scale in-house for the design needed.”

The Parnelli Award-winning FLEXCurve breaks all barriers in the rigid tile category through an innovative dual wing curving LED tile. With an 8mm – 12mm pitch that is designed for both indoor and outdoor applications, the FLEXCurve is available to meet the needs of those looking for high definition LED displays while still maintaining the unique flexible characteristics of PixelFLEX LED video screens. Designed with rigging flexibility in mind, FLEXCurve LED video screens feature easy top-mounting, “Rig and Click” vertical interconnect, hassle-free alignment, plus quick horizontal interconnect and curve setup.

“We are very excited to have begun an outstanding new partnership with Atlanta Audio Visual while continuing to strategically grow our Rental Partner Network,” said David Venus, PixelFLEX Director of Marketing. “With their exceptional reputation in the industry and their dedication to provide outstanding client support, they are an ideal new production rental partner for PixelFLEX products.”

Now with the FLEXCurve LED video wall in their rental inventory, Atlanta Audio Visual has already seen a return from the product investment with the FLEXCurve featured in production designs for the 420 Fest, the Tidal “ColleGrove” album release concert featuring 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne, as well as the 3 Cities Concert Series.  In each of the productions, the FLEXCurve provided a completely new video design and once again demonstrated that its creative flexibility made it the right choice for Atlanta Audio Visual.

“We’ve done the 420 Fest for the past three years and had been using another LED video product, but it always took too long to set up and tear down, plus it wasn’t as bright as we really needed it to be,” continued McWhorter. “This year with the FLEXCurve we flew two 20’ wide x 11’ high LED walls and they loved it so much we are expanding the LED walls next year. In the Tidal concert design, we created a large 50’ wide x 15’ high LED wall for both an artist entrance and an LED background for the performances which was really impressive. Then at the 3 Cities Concert series, we flew the panels from the rafters of the arena to showcase the video content for the three artists performing, but we only had a few hours to get it all in. With the 30” panels of the FLEXCurve and its quick connect system, we were able to cut our assembly time down considerably, and that’s a tremendous advantage.”

Working in a broad spectrum of industries, Atlanta Audio Visual also needs their rental inventory to offer quality performance capabilities in a variety of applications. Putting the FLEXCurve to work in the a live camera environment, McWhorter and the team at Atlanta Audio Visual have now discovered a few more advantages to the PixelFLEX line of LED video technology.

“From a broadcast point of view, when shooting with 4K HD cameras the designer may not want the LED wall as bright as usual, but they also don’t want to lose the grayscale or the contrast in the content,” concluded McWhorter. “With the PixelFLEX processors we are able to not only adjust the brightness of the screen, but we can also adjust the grayscale so that we don’t lose the definition of the color. Plus, another big advantage is the way the PixelFLEX line interacts with our ArKaos Media Servers to bring the live camera feeds directly into the wall, lining it all up pixel-for-pixel, which is absolutely perfect.”
