ATLANTA, GEORGIA, – With the 2016 hurricane season now mercifully behind us, the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami, Florida can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that their recently-installed NanoLumens Outdoor Gallery Series LED displays withstood the challenges of a hurricane season that produced six hurricanes and nine tropical storms. Two of the 2016 season’s hurricanes, Hermine and Matthew, directly impacted Florida and caused heavy winds, rain and millions of dollars in damages.

More details from Nanolumens (www.nanolumens.com):

In fact, Hermine was the first hurricane to make landfall in Florida since Hurricane Wilma in 2005 and Matthew was the strongest hurricane to affect Northeast Florida since 1898. Florida also felt the impact of three tropical storms, with Tropical Storm Julia being the first cyclone on record to form over Florida and Tropical Storm Colin bringing some parts of the state 11 inches of rain and 60 miles per hour winds.

Despite the tumultuous weather season, the AmericanAirlines Arena’s new Xfinity East Plaza, complete with its NanoLumens hurricane-rated Outdoor Gallery Series LED displays, never faltered once. The state-of-the-art outdoor plaza, which features a stage, fully-equipped bar and NRG Solar Canopy, made its debut during a grand opening celebration on January 31, 2016. The plaza utilizes six NanoSlim and NanoWrap solutions that allow the HEAT Group to show guests what is going on inside the arena with live action and instant replay. The patio turned a once under-utilized outdoor area into an epicenter of entertainment for the HEAT Group, offering local South Florida businesses and residents an impressive new space for all event opportunities.

“We are pleased, but not surprised, by how well our Outdoor Gallery Series LED solutions performed during this challenging hurricane season,” said Nathan Remmes, NanoLumens Vice President of Marketing & Business Development. “The NanoLumens Outdoor Gallery Series displays are engineered to perform optimally in all types of outdoor environments with an IP65 weather protection rating. These displays will stand up to just about anything Mother Nature can deliver, from extreme temperatures to hurricanes.”
