Strong Entertainment Lighting’s new Canto 2000 FF followspot, from the Italian manufacturer LDR (Luci della Ribalta), makes its LDI debut this year. First introduced at the PLASA show in London, the Canto 2000 FF delivers a flat field for medium throw applications. While marketed as a professional followspot, its size and cool operation make it well-suited for high school and houses of worship applications as well.
This followspot uses the new 2000 MSR FastFit lamp from Philips, incorporating rear access lamp replacement.
The flat field of light is then produced through a European style “profile” optical train using a spherical reflector and double condenser lens set. This approach is designed differs from the ellipsoidal reflector designs common to most North American followspots.
Like other followspots in that Canto line, the new 2000-watt unit combines a compact size, quiet operation and user-friendly controls. Measurements from Strong show throws of 50 to more than 100 feet.
