The new NotchLC Adobe plugin for macOS brings native support for Apple Silicon.
As users may know, Apple has been transitioning to their own, ARM-based processor and GPU architecture, which has been a challenge for many software developers, including Notch. This change, along with Adobe’s subsequent decision to stop supporting Intel plugin backward compatibility in their Creative Cloud 2024 update, made using NotchLC on macOS more difficult for many. While several workarounds have been available (like side-loading older versions for Creative Cloud Media Encoder), they were not ideal, which is why Notch have been working on a better solution for the NotchLC user community.
A new update to the NotchLC Adobe Creative Cloud plugin for macOS is available, bringing native Apple Silicon support to the industry standard, GPU-powered video codec. The update ensures compatibility with the latest macOS and Adobe Creative Cloud versions and enables Mac-based creatives to continue to experience the speed, quality and capabilities of NotchLC, including collaborating with the wider creative community on Windows. Notch appreciates users continued support and look forward to their feedback on the new update. They’ve also rolled out a major update to the NotchLC documentation, so check that out as well.
