LaserNet sums up the secret to the new white light color balance of the ScannerPro line of special effect projector in four words: Red, Green and Blue, Blue. The company notes that, in this case, two blues are better than one, especially if they are different wavelengths.

The original solid state visible lasers were DPSS (diode pumped solid state) meaning an Infrared laser diode had to be converted to get to a visible color. Eight years ago, when we started using this configuration, the blue DPSS diodes were 473nm which is a lighter blue and 457nm which is a deeper blue in the color spectrum. Moving forward with today’s technology, we have the advantage of Direct Diode which generates visible colors without conversion process, thus, reducing the size and increasing the reliability of our units. Today’s Direct Diodes with the wavelengths in the range of 460nm and 445nm, give the ScannerPro system a broader, more robust coverage of the blue spectrum. In the process, LaserNet gained an amazing paper-white color balance.
According to Horacio Pugliese, LaserNet’s Vice President and Chief Technical Officer, “In lay terms, using this process you can get the best Magenta and Deep Purple without sacrificing brightness. In addition to the double blue, we have taken advantage of the latest innovation in Green, the 520nm Direct Diode, replacing the bulky DPSS 532 which was the old standard.”
The latest version of the RGBB Direct Diode was premiered at the annual ILDA (International Laser Display Association) conference last November in Las Vegas. Five of the Pure 6Watt ScannerPro lasers were used for the aerial presentations of shows from ILDA members from all over the world. Horacio explains, “Switching to full direct diode, gives better longevity and reliability to our projectors.” This latest projector series also features the latest technology in scanning with the new Compact 506 system from Pangolin Laser Systems.
