LOS ANGELES – Elation Professional is taking club/stage/production lighting even further out on the “cutting edge” with the Rayzor Q12, a new, more powerful addition to its high-speed Rayzor LED moving head series. Like its cousin the Rayzor Q7, the Rayzor Q12 distinguishes itself with fast movements, a compact size vs. output, smooth multi-shadow free Quad-Color RGBW color mixing, and zonal chasing for visual effects.

Designed for applications that require greater output, the Rayzor Q12 is equipped with 12 powerful 15-watt 4-in-1 RGBW LEDs, which produce up to 5,840 lux at 5 meters. It also offers some new effects and a sharp 7-degree beam angle, 14-degree field angle.

“Our original Rayzor Q7 was the smallest and fastest LED moving head Elation had made to date, and it has been so well-received that we decided to take the Rayzor series to the next level,” said Eric Loader, director of sales for Elation Professional.  “We made the Rayzor Q12 larger and brighter for applications where more power is required, and gave it some exciting new features that designers had been asking for.  Yet it’s still got the amazing speed and compact size that have made the Rayzor Series a true breakthrough in LED moving head design.”

Featuring high-speed adjustable 16-bit resolution movement, the Rayzor Q12 can pan 540°/630°/540°-90° and tilt 270°/240°, producing lightning quick effects that dart around the entire room. Designers can create a seemingly endless variety of effects too, since this fixture gives them abundant tools to work with: the ability to produce infinite colors via RGBW mixing; 100-0 percent dimming and blackout on all four colors and zone; a variable strobe (1-18 flashes per second) and pulse effect; a rainbow effect; six zone chase effect zones; and eight auto program chase effects.

“The chase effects make the Rayzor Q12 a very versatile fixture because they can be used to add the dynamic visual ‘eye candy’ that’s become so popular in clubs, concerts and productions today, while at the same time the unit can function as a straightforward wash/beam effect,” Loader said.

The Rayzor Q12 is also suited for TV and film production because of to its steady, flicker-free operation. The availability of a snoot lens cover and diffusion filter holder as optional accessories (sold separately) give the Rayzor Q12 even more flexibility.

A DMX-compatible fixture, the Rayzor Q12’s versatility extends to its operating modes.  It can be run in three different DMX channel modes (15, 17 or 37 channel), offering a variety of programming options. The fixture also features a built-in sound to light operation and it can function as a stand-alone unit or be linked in multiples master-slave.  It includes professional grade Neutrik 5-pin DMX in/out and Powercon in/out connections.

Elation has made operator convenience one of its priorities when designing the Rayzor Q12.  The unit features a full-color menu display with a 6-button touch control panel that is 180° reversible.  “People are used to their smart phones and iPads, and they want to be able to ‘flip’ their device and have the screen follow them.  So we decided to add this feature to the Rayzor Q12,” said Loader.   Other customer conveniences include: a rechargeable battery backup for the menu display so units can be addressed without power to them; Omega bracket mounting; and a multi-voltage universal auto switching power supply (100-240V).

The Rayzor Q12 measures 11.7 in. L x 8.5 in. W x 15.7 in. H/ (295.5 x 214 x 397mm) and weighs 22 lbs. (10 kg.), making it easy to transport and set up.  Maintenance is easy too, since its 100,000-hour-rated LEDs rarely need replacing.  CE and cETLus approval are pending.
